Excellent 5 star rating

A group of friends and I took an excellent tour with Eric @solidride.com last weekend around Fairplay, Colorado. Eric chose an exciting route that matched our intermediate skill level, including long straight dirt roads with beautiful scenery on the open country where you could let the throttle go while being safe and within speed limit, paved twisty roads in the mountains, and the beautiful unpaved Boreas Pass. He started the trip letting us know what to expect with a focus on safety to ensure everyone would be comfortable and safe. He made a few stops before the trickiest spots to remind us of what to expect, and he took great photos of the group along the way. The tour was spot-on regarding our experience level and length of time, and we had lunch at the restaurant and bar at the highest altitude in the Americas, in Alma. To top it all off, Eric arranged great accommodations for us while in the area. I highly recommend @solidride for exciting motorcycle adventures in Colorado.

Excellent 5 star rating

Last weekend, we had an incredible 90-mile ride around South Park, CO, with Eric from @solidride.com. The route was a perfect mix of stunning paved roads near Fairplay and Breckenridge and thrilling unpaved tracks, including Elkhorn Road and my personal favorite, Boreas Pass. We wrapped up the day with a fantastic lunch in Alma. Eric’s support throughout the ride was top-notch. His thorough briefing on the roads ahead, attention to safety, and ability to set a pace that suited everyone were spot on. He assessed our skill levels perfectly and chose a route that was both enjoyable and just challenging enough to keep things exciting. I can’t wait to see the photos he took of us! We also stayed at Base Camp for a few nights, where Eric’s hospitality was outstanding. I’m already looking forward to returning and exploring more of the amazing routes Eric has planned. I highly recommend SlideRide to anyone seeking a great and safe motorcycle adventure in Colorado!

Adventure Tour FAQ

Colorado ADV Motorcycle Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

Planning an adventure motorcycle tour in Colorado? Here are quick, straight answers on skill level, route surfaces, best seasons, what’s included, and how our guided vs self-guided packages work—so you can choose the right ride and book with confidence.

1. What’s included in your Colorado ADV motorcycle tours?

Our guided tours include a professionally led ride plan, daily route guidance, and on-the-ground support; self-guided packages include field-tested GPX tracks and optional travel advisory so you can ride Colorado with a solid plan.

2. Do I need an adventure bike (ADV) to join, or can I ride a dual sport?

Most routes are designed for ADV and dual sport motorcycles; the best fit depends on the tour’s surface mix (paved, gravel, and dirt) and the difficulty rating listed on the tour. See tour booking page for recommended equipment.

3. Are your adventure motorcycle tours in Colorado mostly paved or off-road?

Our tours blend iconic Colorado pavement (scenic byways and mountain passes) with unpaved roads and optional dirt/gravel segments—each tour lists the expected surface mix so you can choose the right ride.

4. What skill level do I need for an ADV motorcycle tour in Colorado?

Our tours are best for intermediate through advanced riders with comfort riding on mountain roads with sharp corners, steep drop offs, and unpaved surfaces; if a route includes more technical off-road sections, we’ll note it clearly so you can pick the right difficulty. Please reference the tour booking page to learn more about skill level for a specific tour.

5. When is the best time of year for motorcycle touring in Colorado?

In general, late spring through early fall is best, with peak high-country access in mid to late summer; exact timing depends on snowpack and pass openings for the specific routes you want to ride. August and September are arguably the best months to ride in Colorado.

6. Where do your Colorado motorcycle tours start and finish?

Most of our Colorado motorcycle tours are staged for easy logistics on the Front Range and in Central Colorado—typically starting in Golden or Fairplay—so you can arrive, gear up, and get riding quickly before heading into the Rockies for scenic byways and high mountain passes.

7. Do you offer self-guided adventure motorcycle tours in Colorado?

Yes—our self-guided options include GPX routes that are field-tested in Colorado, plus optional travel advisory to help you plan your trip and customize your route plan.

8. Can you help with lodging for guided or self-guided tours?

Yes—on both our guided and self-guided tours, we work with local lodging partners and can provide access to exclusive booking rates, and for select experiences we host from our own base camp property to simplify (or eliminate) complicated hotel logistics.

9. What should I pack for a Colorado ADV motorcycle tour (weather, altitude, gear)?

Colorado riding often means big temperature swings and high altitude, so we recommend layered riding gear, rain protection, hydration, and a bike setup appropriate for mountain passes and mixed surfaces. All self-guided and guided tour customers will receive a trip planning and packing checklist to make sure you’re prepared for your trip.

10. Do you offer custom or private Colorado motorcycle tours?

Yes—if you want different dates, a private group tour, or a custom route plan, contact us and we’ll help build a Colorado motorcycle tour that matches your riding style and goals.

11. Can you help with lodging for guided or self-guided tours?

Yes—on both our guided and self-guided tours, we work with local lodging partners and can provide access to exclusive booking rates, and for select experiences we host from our own base camp property to simplify (or eliminate) complicated hotel logistics.

12. Is food included for self-guided and guided tours?

Yes—food inclusion depends on the specific tour package and is always listed on the tour booking page; on most guided tours, lunch is typically included (either a prepared trailside meal or a hosted meal at a local restaurant), preferred-rate hotels may include breakfast, and select hub-and-spoke tours based from our private base camp may also include a chef-prepared dinner.

13. Do you provide rider safety gear (helmet, jacket, boots, etc.)?

All riders are required to wear appropriate safety gear, but we don’t provide gear rentals directly; if you’re renting a motorcycle locally, some rental companies may offer helmets and additional riding gear as part of the rental.
